Lipoedema

Lipoedema (also referred to as lipedema) is a chronic, painful, loose connective tissue disorder, occurring almost exclusively in women. It is characterised by disregulated and disproportionate fat growth, most commonly found in the legs and arms and can be influenced by genetic and hormonal factors. It is progressive and incurable, but there are management strategies that can reduce symptoms.

Lipoedema presents in different types and stages. Types may include symmetrical or asymmetrical patterns, while stages range from mild to severe, impacting the extent of tissue involvement.

At Lagom, we prioritise a holistic approach to Lipoedema management. Our comprehensive treatments encompass conservative measures and advanced interventions, including:

  • Compression Therapy: Utilising compression garments to manage swelling and provide support.

  • LymphaTouch® Therapy: this negative pressure treatment supports the lymphatic flow and blood circulation, enhancing the natural healing process of the body.

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD): is a cornerstone in Lipoedema care. This light massage technique aims to stimulate the lymphatic system, reducing swelling and promoting fluid drainage. MLD plays a crucial role in:

    • Swelling Reduction: Alleviating fluid build-up in affected areas.

    • Pain Management: Easing discomfort associated with lipoedema.

    • Improving Mobility: Enhancing overall movement and functionality.

SOZO Early Intervention

L-DEX SOZO® enables us to detect changes and intervene early in the course of a disease such as Lymphoedema and then monitor the impact of therapeutic interventions. Early detection and treatment is the best way to ensure lipoedema does not progress to a chronic state.
